The Ohio State 4 Miler will take place on Campus this Sunday. Access to the church and Arps will be as usual, but some streets WITHIN campus will be closed or have limited access. Please plan accordingly.
AWAKE/AWARE
AWAKE is MAKE!!!! Carolyn Baginski, who has led our summer MAKE program, returns to lead our children in developing and designing incredible artistic expressions. Children ages four to twelve are welcome.
Next week, October 30, Rachael Smith will lead the AWAKE children, as they meet in the kitchen.

NSI Donations for October
The item for October is soup.
NSI has asked us to collect 450 boxes/bags of any kind of stuffing for the Thanksgiving food baskets. The stuffing must be at church by Sunday, Nov. 13.
BREAD News
As we wind down the listening process, the BREAD team will host two final “house meetings” on Oct 23 and Oct 30 after the 10:30 service in Hobson Hall. If you were unable to attend the previous meetings, please join us at one of these. Our aim is to hear from a large sample of the congregation about your concerns for our community.
NSI Benefit Concert at St. Stephens!
On Sunday, October 30th, St. Stephen’s will be hosting the annual Choir Festival benefitting the NSI food pantry. Singers from 8 churches will come together to present songs for the massed choir as well as selections by individual choirs. The singers will arrive at St. Stephen’s in time to take their covered dish to the kitchen and begin rehearsal at 4 pm. They will break for a meal and be ready for the concert at 7 pm. Last year this benefit concert raised $4,193 for NSI. Volunteers will be welcomed to do various duties – ushering, food serving and clean up, etc. If you are willing to volunteer, please contact Liz Hecker by Wednesday, October 26th. Let’s show these other churches the friendly, welcoming, vital parish of St. Stephen’s.
Help us Plan Advent at St. Stephen’s
Becky Michelfelder and Bill Miller invite you to an Advent visioning morning on Saturday, November 5 from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm (yes, there is a home game that day but kickoff isn’t until 8pm). Our time will include coffee and doughnuts, an Advent opening devotion, an introduction to the lessons, themes, and music of Advent. After a break we will launch into a planning session to include wild ideas, strategy, and task assignment. At 12:15pm we will conclude with closing prayer. Let us know you are planning to attend or just show up. Doughnuts while they last. Coffee all morning.
Book Club News
Everyone is welcome! Book club will meet in November on the traditional second Wednesday of the month, November 9, 2016 at 6:30 PM at Fran Carr’s home. The November book is Jesus, the Life Teachings and Relevance of a Religious Revolutionary by Marcus Borg. Kindly let Fran know in advance if you plan to attend. We’ll share a potluck super followed by the book discussion. Please bring something to share (main dish, side dish, dessert, beverage). Join us; it’s fun! Planning ahead, we’ll be sharing favorite poetry in December.
First Ever Advent Spaghetti Dinner!

Come join the fun and bring your friends, kids, and neighbors.
Enjoy a traditional spaghetti dinner: sauces, noodles of various sorts, meat balls, salad, bread, and a surprise dessert!
Refresh your memory on those Christmas carols (anticipated “sing-off” of the Twelve Days of Christmas), and shop at the world bazar of craft items made by international artists to benefit emerging economic communities. At the end there will be a lightning tear down and sweep up and we’ll leave with only the memories. Wear something red and bring your jingle bells! Donations accepted but free for all! We’ll send an “Evite” closer to the date so we’ll be well prepared for the fun. To volunteer to help, contact Becky Michelfelder.
