Creation Care is not just a program of our local church, it’s a program of the denomination. The mission statement on the Episcopal Creation Care website says: “In Jesus, God so loved the whole world. We follow Jesus, so we love the world God loves. Concerned for the global climate emergency, drawing on diverse approaches for our diverse contexts, we commit to form and restore loving, liberating, life-giving relationships with all of Creation.” From the website you can read the “Creation Care Covenant” and take the Creation Pledge. With food scarcity being such a problem during the pandemic, Creation Care has developed a program, “Good News Gardens,” showing gardeners in our midst how to use their produce to help the neediest people.
There is also an active network of Episcopalians committed to creation care in our Province V. Members meet monthly to share ideas and plan actions. The network website has announcements and reports of meetings as well as resources for devotions, prayers and research. Catherine Duffy, a member of All Saints Episcopal Church in New Albany is the convener of this network.
